About Us
How we got started...
Having had my first child Mia (now nearly 2 years ago) I was very disappointed by the limited choice of fun developmental and educational activities there was for us to do, I talked to all my friends and then their friends and even some strangers on the street and everyone seemed to be in the same position - there was very little on offer for very young children and parents/nannies and expecting parents.
I was looking for something that had a little more going for it, something that would interest me as much as my daughter, it definitely needed to be in a clean, comfortable and visually interesting space but most of all I wanted to enjoy playing with my daughter. So I set about collaborating with the people who could make this happen.
A little about me... I graduated from the Samuel Becket Centre of Theatre Studies in 1990 and having worked for many years in the theatre, film and television worlds both in front and behind the scenes I crossed over into the corporate world of IT and Business Information Systems and for a while I was very happy living in the high flying business world but having given birth to her daughter Mia the creative side was reawakened!
Throughout this rainy summer anyone we know with a child under 5 became out test dummies (you know who you are we thank you all x). Mia has had more play dates than we care to remember, we've taken out shares in Amazon and started our own early childhood play activities library!
In September 2007 we began workshopping the PlayLabs in our first venue the YMCA in Sandymount with a group of 20+ moms and nannies gathered from Rollercoaster.ie and word of mouth. From the feedback we received so far I can honestly say we've come-up a truly unique, creative, interesting and fun programme for the under 3's.
For the "non" PlayLab activities such as the Baby Preparation Days, the New Mother Survival Courses, Paediatric First Aid courses etc. we have teamed up with the best experts in their fields.
