Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our PlayLab classes, booking process, and policies.
What is a PlayLab?
A PlayLab is ClapHandies' weekly 50-minute sensory play class for children aged 0-3, run in small groups during school terms. Each session blends themed sensory activities, music and movement, free play, and story time, all aligned with Aistear, Ireland's early childhood curriculum framework. Classes run in three age groups — Babies, Wobblers and Toddlers — so every activity suits your child's developmental stage. Learn more on our PlayLabs page.
Where do the classes take place?
PlayLabs operates at multiple venues across Dublin, Cork, Wicklow, Kildare, Meath and Carlow — and we're always adding more locations. Visit our Locations page to view all venues and select your preferred location.
What ages are the classes suitable for?
We have three age groups: Babies (6 weeks - 7 months), Wobblers (8 - 16 months), and Toddlers (17 months - 3.5 years). Each group has activities tailored to their developmental stage.
What are the class times?
Most of our classes follow this schedule: Toddlers at 9:45am, Wobblers at 10:45am, and Babies at 11:45am. Each session runs approximately 50 minutes, though times may vary by venue.
How are the PlayLabs priced?
Each term runs for 7 weeks and the full price is €133. If the term has already started, you only pay for the weeks remaining. Twins or siblings get 50% off, so just €199 for two children.
How many places are in each class?
Generally, our venues can have a maximum of 16 adults and their little ones. Some smaller rooms can only cater for 14.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring hand sanitizer, a small blanket or muslin to put on top of our yoga mats (e.g. the size of a travel change mat), and most importantly yourself and your child! All play materials and equipment are provided.
What should I do if my child, or me, is ill?
We ask you not to attend the PlayLabs if you or your child has any of these conditions: vomiting bug, diarrhoea, chickenpox, impetigo, hand foot and mouth disease, conjunctivitis or other similar contagious conditions. For vomiting or diarrhoea, children must be symptom-free for 48 hours before returning.
What if I can't make a class?
We offer two free make-up classes per term if you miss a session. Make-up classes only run during weeks 5 & 6 of the term. Vouchers are valid for 2 years from issue.
Can I come for a trial class?
Drop-in PlayLabs are available to book from Week 5 of the term, where you can book in for a single class at €20 per session. This is a great way to try before committing to a full term.
What happens at a typical session?
Each session lasts around 50 minutes and follows a consistent structure: a welcome song and warm-up, themed sensory activities, free play and exploration, music and movement, and a story time and goodbye song. The familiar routine helps little ones feel secure while keeping things fun and engaging each week.
Who runs the classes?
Our PlayLab leaders are experienced in early childhood development and trained to create engaging, interactive classes. They are passionate about helping children learn through play in a safe, welcoming environment.
How do I book a class?
Browse our available classes, select your child's age group and preferred venue, add your details, and pay securely online via Stripe. Terms open periodically — register your interest to be notified when new terms open for booking.
Is parking available at venues?
Parking availability varies by venue. Check the specific venue on our Locations page for details on parking and accessibility.
Can I bring siblings who've aged out of a class?
PlayLabs are designed for specific age groups to ensure activities are developmentally appropriate. Siblings outside the age range can't attend the same session, but you can book them into their own age-appropriate class — many families book back-to-back sessions!
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes! ClapHandies gift vouchers make a lovely present for new parents — they can be put towards any PlayLab term. You can buy one in a few clicks on our Gift Vouchers page.
